Monkey Madness Osrs Quest Reward

One defence pures are a type of account build that is popular among PKers. As the name implies, these accounts keep their Defence level at 1, while typically training their Strength levels very high.

The Renegade Returns is the sequel to Monkey Madness, and is the 128th quest on Old School RuneScape. Following the events of Monkey Madness, Glough has vanished, prompting King Narnode to enlist the player's help once more in tracking down the war criminal and uncovering his next evil plan.

Observatory Quest - 875 experience in Attack, Strength, Defence, or Hitpoints is a possible reward from completing the quest, depending on the constellation players observe, which is random. Some constellations do not give experience in any skill but give items instead. Jan 29, 2016 Runescape Monkey madness quest guide walkthrough with live commentary in the Oldschool servers. Let’s take a look at some key items, quests, and training methods to help you decide how to build your pure account in this comprehensive OSRS pure guide.

Prayer levels usually don’t exceed 52 for the Smite prayer, and the Attack level usually stays at 50, 60, or 75. Ranged and Magic are typically trained to the max level along with Strength. These types of builds allow you to maximize your damage while remaining a relatively low combat level.

Of course, the way you build your account is completely up to you. There is a huge amount of variations of one defence pure accounts built around specific weapons and combat styles.

Quests

Questing is a very important factor in making any kind of pure account. Certain quests are needed to obtain useful items or give access to areas of the game. These quests, or quests leading up to them, can give unavoidable experience in skills that you don’t want to level up.

For example, manually training your Attack level too much before completing quests that give Attack experience will force you to over-level your Attack skill, ultimately making you a higher combat level.

Attack Experience Quests

The lowest attack level commonly used for P2P pures is 50, so these quests are ideal to get out of the way before training your Attack skill.

  • Mountain Daughter – 1,000 EXP (Unlocks Bearhead)
  • Death Plateau – 3,000 EXP (Unlocks Climbing Boots)
  • Underground Pass – 3,000 EXP
  • Vampire Slayer – 4,825 EXP
  • Fight Arena – 12,175 EXP
  • Waterfall Quest – 13,750 EXP
  • The Grand Tree – 18,400 EXP (Required for Monkey Madness to unlock a Dragon Scimitar)

Completing all of these quests will give you an attack level of 45 if you’re starting from level 1.

Prayer Quests

Prayer is a tricky skill for pures. It can be extremely useful for PvP and PvE scenarios, but will give your account a significant combat level boost. A few level differences can put you in a combat bracket with much better built accounts. Think carefully about how you want to level your pure’s Prayer skill.

  • Restless Ghost – 1,125 EXP (Required for Ava’s Accumulator)
  • Priest in Peril – 1,406 EXP (Unlocks Canifis & Required for Ava’s Accumulator)
  • Mountain Daughter – 2,000 EXP (Unlocks Bearhead)
  • Ghosts Ahoy – 2,400 EXP (Unlocks Ectophial)
  • The Great Brain Robbery – 6,000 EXP (Unlocks Barrelchest Anchor)
  • Rum Deal – 7,000 EXP

Completion of The Great Brain Robbery requires an initial Prayer level of 50. Unless you are leveling your Prayer to 52 on your pure account, do not complete this quest, or Rum Deal.

Defence Quests

The following quests will give you Defence experience. All of these quests, and subsequently any quests that list these as a prerequisite cannot be completed.

  • A Soul’s Bane
  • In Search of the Myreque
  • In Aid of the Myreque
  • Nature Spirit
  • What Lies Below
  • The Fremennik Trials
  • Heroes’ Quest
  • Between a Rock…
  • Olaf’s Quest
  • Holy Grail
  • Dragon Slayer
  • King’s Ransom

In addition to this list, if you are completing Monkey Madness to unlock the Dragon Scimitar, you cannot re-visit Ape Atoll at any point. Doing so requires you to talk to an NPC which gives an additional post-quest reward that gives unavoidable Defence experience.

If you want to use Ape Atoll to train your Ranged skill using chinchompas – do not complete Monkey Madness until you have finished your Ranged training as you will not be able to return!

Essential Items

Due to the lack of Defence levels on the account, pures are very limited in what items they can use. Because of this, you will want to get your hands on the best possible items for your account. Let’s look at some important unlocks for pure accounts.

Mithril Gloves

Similar to the iconic Barrows Gloves for main accounts, these are the best version you can unlock on a 1 Defence pure. These only slightly outclass items like a Combat Bracelet, but are still better nonetheless.

To unlock them, you need to complete the following quests:

  • Cook’s Assistant
  • Recipe for Disaster – Helping the Cook
  • Recipe for Disaster – Freeing the following guests: Mountain Dwarf, Goblin Generals, Pirate Pete, Evil Dave, and Skrach Uglogwee

God Books

These books aren’t just fashionscape-101, they can be filled with pages to give significant bonuses. The most popular being the Zamorak book, which gives the best offensive stat bonuses when worn.

To unlock them, you need the complete the following quests:

  • Barcrawl (Mini-Quest)
  • Horror From The Deep

Dragon Scimitar

This is generally the weapon of choice for 60 Attack pures. The only important thing to note here, is that upon completing the Monkey Madness quest you cannot return back to the Ape Atoll island. Keep that in mind before finishing off the quest.

To unlock it, you need the complete the following quests:

  • Tree Gnome Village
  • The Grand Tree
  • Monkey Madness

DDS

A fairly cheap, common melee special attack weapon for PvP.

To unlock it, you need the complete the following quest:

  • Lost City

Ava’s Accumulator

Not only does this item give a great Ranged bonus, it’s also very helpful for training your Ranged skill. It will allow you to save a high amount of bolts and arrows when you worn.

To unlock it, you need the complete the following quests:

Grand tree osrs
  • Ernest the Chicken
  • The Restless Ghost
  • Priest In Peril
  • Animal Magnetism

When completing these quests, your account will be bumped up to level 15 Prayer.

Climbing Boots

Cheap, common boots worn by all types of pure accounts. These are great because they cost next to nothing, and give decent stat bonuses.

To unlock them, you need the complete the following quest:

  • Death Plateau

Ancient Magicks

While not an item directly, this spellbook can be unlocked by pure accounts. It gives you access to, most notably, the Ice & Blood spells. Ice spells can be used to freeze your opponent for a short period of time, while Blood spells can be used to regenerate health in combat.

To unlock them, you need the complete the following quests:

  • Druidic Ritual
  • The Dig Site
  • Priest In Peril
  • Temple of Ikov
  • Death Plateau
  • Troll Stronghold
  • Waterfall Quest
  • The Tourist Trap
  • Desert Treasure

Pure Training

In the beginning, you should first decide what type of pure account you want to be. There is some wiggle room when switching between builds, but you have to be careful about your questing early on.

Starting out, it’s a good idea to aim for completing all of the Attack experience quests first. Most pures will have at least 50 Attack for access to Granite weapons. This will ensure that you complete any necessary quests and don’t over-level your Attack skill if you wish to go for a higher level in the future.

That being said, after your questing is out of the way, here are some of the best methods of training your Strength, Ranged, and Magic.

Magic

One of the easiest, and most iconic methods of training Magic in OSRS is using the High Alchemy spell. At level 55, you can cast this spell on noted items to turn them into gold using a Nature rune and fire staff. You can do this anywhere in the game, and it gives you a decent amount of experience per hour.

A decent, completely AFK but slightly more expensive alternative is splashing. This method of training involves wearing magic-reducing gear to cast spells on an NPC that will always “splash” or do no damage. You still, however, receive experience for casting the spell.

Because you are taking no damage, and the enemy is taking no damage, you don’t even need to look at the screen while you constantly auto-cast spells. See ourSplashing guide here for a more detailed explanation.

Strength & Ranged

Assuming you’ve done your quests, you should be able to equip some decent weapons (at minimum an Adamant or Rune Scimitar) which can be used to fight Sand Crabs. These monsters are low defence, high hitpoints, and don’t do much damage.

See ourSand Crabs guide to learn more about them.

As a pure, this is about as best as it gets. The crabs are fairly AFK, and there a bank nearby to restock on food when you’re low. They’re overall low effort and decent experience. Most old pure training methods like Rock Crabs or Experiments are now outdated.

Almost all high-fantasy MMORPGs involve combat. After all, it wouldn’t be half as fun if players didn’t have the chance to fight mythical creatures or even each other. In Old School RuneScape (OSRS), it’s important for players to improve their Attack Skill, one of the basic and vital skills there is in the game. One of the fastest ways to get better is by knocking out quests so that you can get a chunk of Attack Skill EXP.

Waterfall Quest

This place is an intermediate quest that grants Attack EXP that doesn’t have any prerequisites. Capitalize on this quest to enhance your Attack Skill. Keep in mind that only OSRS members have access to this talent. If you want to finish this quest, subscribing for a membership is necessary. Otherwise, you’re better off finding new alternatives for raising Attack Skill EXP.

To start this quest, first, go to Almera. You can find her upstream of the Baxtorian Falls and south of the Barbarian Outpost. She’ll let you know that she’s worried about her son, who’s searching for something in the river. After talking to her, ride the raft. From there, you’ll arrive at a small island where Hudon is. Afterward, follow where the quest prompts you to head to next. Aside from the 13700 Attack EXP, you’ll receive 13700 Strength EXP. Yes, you’ll hit harder with physical attacks, and there are many other rewards.

The Grand Tree

The quest that grants Attack EXP (like the Waterfall quest), but also requires a membership. Even though the quest doesn’t have any requirements, it’s wise to finish the Tree Gnome Village quest first so that you’ll have a better understanding of what’s going on.

Begin the search by talking to King Narnode Shareen. You’ll find him on the first floor of the Grand Tree. He’ll tell you that something isn’t right with the Grand Tree, which is a huge problem since it’s the one that upholds the Dwarven Stronghold. The King will bring you to the tree’s roots, which are slowly decaying.

According to Narnode, Hazelmere, a Grand Tree creator and guardian, is the only one that can solve the quest. It’s not easy to understand him. Instead, he’ll provide a bank sample and a translation book. From there, just follow what the quest asks and you’ll receive 18400 Attack EXP, 7900 Agility XP, 2150 Magic EXP, 5 Quest Points, and two Treasure Hunter keys. Not too shabby.

Monkey Madness

Once The Grand Tree and Tree Gnome Village is scratched off the checklist, it’s time to wrestle with Monkey Madness. Yes, the Tree Gnome Village quest is a requirement, so you’re going to have to finish it eventually. Also, you’ll need to be a member, level 43 in Prayer, and level 10 in Thieving. Yes, you’ll need lots of time and patience because this is a long quest.

To start Monkey Madness, talk to King Narnode Shadeen, again. He’s worried that something has happened to the 10th Squad since they haven’t returned. The King ordered them to go to Karamja. You’ll go to investigate so that you can complete the quest. After finishing this quest, speak to Daero. He’ll reward you with 35000 EXP for Attack and Defense, or EXP for Strength and Constitution.
