Club Penguin Island was a massively-multiplayer online role-playing game for mobile devices, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X. It was the successor of Club Penguin and released worldwide on March 29, 2017. The game's public beta testing period took place in Australia and New Zealand from December 15, 2016, and in Canada from January 13, 2017, to its release date.

On September 27, 2018, an official news post was posted announcing that Club Penguin Island would be closing down by the end of the year. The multiplayer servers closed down on December 20th, 2018. Offline Mode, which would allow players to continue playing the game in a limited form after the closure of the servers, was made available the next day.

The games like Monkey Quest that you will find here focus on other action based MMOs that let children jump into an immersive virtual world and role play as a character while completing quests, improving their avatar and making new friends. These included games are predominately browser based but also includes a few downloadable titles. I thought I would take a moment to explain why Monkey Quest: Rewritten was cancelled. It is honestly quite short and simple. We had people interested, which is what we loved. We worked day and night trying to get the game to work for the best of you, but in the end. No matter what the donations.

Why It Sucked

  1. Microtransactions: The game offered a paid membership subscription, and without one the game becomes boring and dull. Lacking membership makes you unable to buy and share party supplies, collect exclusive items, access unlimited clothing creation, and use gear (with the exception of the Jackhammer).
    • The game did offer a free seven-day membership trial but you couldn't start it without entering your credit card details. If you didn't cancel the membership early enough, you would have been automatically charged the membership fee after those seven days.
  2. It cloned many other MMO games, such as Pirate 101 and Monkey Quest (which shut down on September 26, 2014), which are way better and far more enjoyable than CPI itself.
  3. Quests that boil down to collecting a few items and running back to the quest-giver; they were nothing more than fetch quests.
  4. A poorly executed leveling system that had the player unlock things as they level up. It inspired other mediocre games like BlockStar Planet to do the same thing.
  5. It lacks a lot of features that the original Club Penguin had. Most notably the Puffles, which were one of the biggest things on the original.
  6. The paper-thin plot. While Club Penguin had paper-thin plots, they were passable and they were way more enjoyable with variety in them.
  7. Club Penguin was discontinued in favor of this, and Disney does not want anyone trying to bring back the original experience.
  8. The developers kept releasing useless parties rather than focusing on the features the players wanted.
  9. Most of the soundtrack has been recycled from the original Club Penguin.
  10. Getting banned for either saying harmless words or no apparent reason was easy.
  11. Excessive amounts of glitches.
  12. Terrible amounts of lag that could sometimes crash the game, especially on Android devices.
  13. At launch, the game looked unfinished.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. From an economic standpoint, the game's existence can be justified. Club Penguin was suffering from a low fanbase at the time, Adobe Flash was getting outdated, and it was costing way too much to continue maintenance.
  2. While the multiplayer and online elements are no longer available, Offline Mode allows players to continue playing the game after the servers closed. It also allows players to access the Debug Mode and change the appearance of the island.
  3. Disney attempted to fix the damage caused by the membership by adding more new things to it, like igloos.
  4. The graphics were way better than the original game and the penguin models no longer looked like triangular penguins.
  5. The PC port of the game runs more fluid and stable than the mobile version.
  6. Some songs like Epic Island, The Perfect Day (The Party Starts Now), and Brightest Days are pretty good to listen to.
  7. The voice acting is decent.

Reception

The game's announcement, along with the closure of the original Club Penguin on January 30, 2017, had upset many fans of the original.

Club Penguin Rewritten

Club Penguin Island garnered mostly negative user reviews upon its worldwide release, and many players criticized Disney's choice to discontinue the original.

Ironically, the word 'Toontown' was censored in Club Penguin Island. I guess they don't want people talking about the much better game.

It's not free if you have to pay for it! What the hell, Disney!

This isn't going to be an exact Monkey Quest copy. We plan on adding to the original Monkey Quest story. However, we plan on keeping everything as close to the original game as possible.
Monkey Quest Rewritten will be entirely free to play, and there will be no option to pay for special elements of the game. There shall be no membership at all, rather, the features of membership would be unlockable in some sort of way
Do not ask any alpha testers for a key, as this will ruin all your chances on becoming one. If you repeatedly ask staff or an alpha tester for a key, consequences will be given.
